Head of Aquatics

Juliet Buchmann

Juliet Buchmann is the Head of Aquatics at Camp Eastwood this upcoming summer and brings energy, care, and a deep love of the outdoors to camp. During the year, Juliet is a first-grade teacher in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she shares her enthusiasm for learning, adventure, and kindness with her students. When she’s not in the classroom, you’ll find her skiing, hiking, or spending as much time outside as possible with her dog Fritz.

Juliet’s camp journey began at Camp Manitou for Boys, where she first arrived as a counselor simply looking for an adventure. That first summer sparked a lasting connection to camp life—and to Maine—that keeps drawing her back year after year. Now, she combines her passion for working with children and her love of the water to create a safe, fun, and memorable aquatics program for campers.

Head of Athletics, Adventure, & Movement

Brad Tarr

Brad Tarr’s summer camp adventures began about 25 years ago when a lifelong friend invited him out to Maine to be a counselor at Camp Manitou. After working at Manitou for ten years as a counselor and director, Brad settled down in Colorado with his family and put his camp days behind him. Five years ago, the adventure picked up again, this time with his wife and four children.

Joining Brad for his Maine summers are his wife, Jenny, a nurse at Camp Somerset, and his daughter Harper, a Somerset camper. Brad’s son Dylan is a Manitou camper, and his twin boys, Ronin and River, will be joining Brad for their first summer at Camp Eastwood.

When the Maine sun sets for the summer, Brad is a 4th-grade teacher in Fort Collins, Colorado. He keeps himself busy with pool days splashing with his kids, skiing the Colorado Rockies, and mountain biking the foothills outside his hometown. Brad fell in love with Maine and the camp experience his first summer at Manitou, and he brings that same energy with him 25 years later to help ensure the campers he connects with have positive summers as well.

Head of STEAM

Lucía Paez

Lucía Paez, or Luce, will join Camp Eastwood as the Head of the STEAM Department.

Her camp journey began at 16, volunteering at local day camps in Argentina. Those early experiences changed how she sees the world -through kids’ eyes, full of play, curiosity, and vibrant energy.

Although she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality, art has always been her passion. From an early age, her mother, a teacher with a deeply creative soul, inspired her to explore and develop her artistic skills. Over the years, she’s shaped her approach through curiosity, self-teaching, and hands-on experimentation -reading, observing, taking art classes, and learning by doing. In 2022, she joined Camp Manitou for Boys in Maine, fully immersing herself in the U.S. overnight camp culture. She’s taken on a variety of roles -cabin counselor, arts and crafts instructor, costume designer, and program specialist -each helping her grow both personally and professionally.

Luce is guided by three core values: be curious, create boldly, and enjoy the process. She’s excited to bring these values to the STEAM programs at Camp Eastwood and support campers as they explore their ideas, take creative risks, and grow in ways that are truly meaningful to them.
