Health, Safety & Wellness
Your child’s health, safety, and wellness are our top priorities. As mothers ourselves, we deeply understand how challenging it can be to entrust someone else with your child’s care. That’s why we approach every aspect of camp with the utmost care and responsibility. We consider ourselves your child’s summer parents, and we treat that role with the seriousness it deserves. We make every decision as if your child were our own. In some cases, they are.

Safety
The safety of our camp community is a priority long before the first camper arrives. Every member of our staff is carefully selected through personal interviews, reference checks, and comprehensive background screenings. Our counselors are emerging leaders who are mature, compassionate, and genuinely committed to being part of our camp community.
Leadership
Our leadership team is made up of seasoned educators and experienced camp professionals who are passionate about nurturing children. They guide campers through social challenges, serve as positive role models, and support the development of meaningful friendships and age-appropriate leadership skills.
All staff participate in a thorough, week-long orientation, with additional training for those in specialty roles or leadership positions. We treat orientation as a continuation of the hiring process, ensuring every team member is fully prepared before camp begins.
When your child arrives, they’ll be in the care of a well-trained and dedicated team. We emphasize the importance of direct supervision, especially during out-of-camp trips, through detailed training sessions, weekly staff meetings, and trip-day briefings.
Our cabins are equipped with smoke detectors and securely mounted fire extinguishers. Emergency procedures and fire safety plans are clearly outlined during orientation, ensuring every staff member is prepared to keep our community safe.
Health & Wellness
At Eastwood, we’re passionate about promoting a healthy lifestyle. Whether it’s offering nutritious meals in the dining hall, encouraging sunscreen use out on the fields, or providing care through our well-trained health center staff, we prioritize your child’s physical and emotional well-being.
Our goal is to help campers enjoy every moment of camp while fostering a lasting awareness of the importance of health. Our Health Center is staffed 24 hours a day by one of our nurses. There are two hospitals along with an urgent care facility less than 15 minutes from camp.
